y June Panic - from the CD Baby's Breadth on Secretly
Canadian records
Don’t circumcise your baby. Keep your baby from harm!
Cuz everywhere you go, they’re gonna want you cold,
they’ll lead you to sorrow by a pale moon,
where Death goes stalkin’.
A doctor greets a perfect baby as if he wasn’t done,
and don’t you think it’s weird? These puritans, in fear,
mutilate children and call it ‘hygiene’.
They must think we’re unclean.
(the grown-ups sing:)
“All my life I’ve been dead or I’ve been lonely.
Often will, often won’t, but never wholly.
I must be giving up the ghost.”
Don’t circumcise your baby. Leave your baby intact!
Don’t sacrifice skin to bad medi-sin.
It’s only your heart you need to circumcise,
By Whose light we’re walkin’, by Whose words we’re talkin’ out.
(the grown-downs sing:)
“I was made for Your love, not for(e)skin only.
I become like a child, Your one and only.
No, no, I won’t be giving up the ghost. Holy ghost.”
